ENGLISH AT NORBA IES NORBA CAESARINA (CÁCERES)
From March 27th to April 2nd we recieved our Swedish partners from Södra Latins Gymnasium in Stockholm, in a mobility from the Erasmus + programme "Opening Desire Paths for Culture". We had a busy week and a wonderful time, visiting landmarks in Extremadura and working on different topics related to our project.
From the English Department we want to congratulate our 2nd Bachillerato students Roberto Adrián Curea, Pilar Calderón
Casero, Jaime Estévez Galán, Paula Pavón Presumido y Oliver Wilson Muñoz for taking part in the European contest ‘Young Translators’ organised by the European Commission. We really appreciate their effort to represent our school.
At IES Norba Caesarina, we would like our students to practice active citizenship, committed to current affairs, more global, intercultural and multilingual. We aim to train future citizens for culturally diverse societies in which intercultural dialogue will be key to the development of democratic values.
From the linguistic departments in our school, we support communication in several languages, as we consider it promotes internationalization and educational, professional and personal mobility.

Our teacher Olga Martín sent information about an activity organised to disseminate the results of the Erasmus +Project she is coordinating.
The students Clara Moríñigo and Jimena Martín of 2nd Bachillerato Science have visited the students of 2nd ESO A-B Bilingual. They have talked to them about their experience in the Erasmus+ project and their trip to Patras (Greece). Then, they have made their presentations about nature and environment; the young students have been listening attentively and they have made questions at the end.
It has been a very interesting intergenerational activity to show the young ones the likely progress in English in the long run, to encourage them to take part in future recruitment for further Erasmus projects and to display how talks in class will help them to develop oral skills and self-esteem, to research issues of their interest and to face the challenges of 21st century from an academic approach.
It is not the result. It is the process.

Our teacher Nieves has been working on mind maps in 2º ESO A/B and 2º ESO E. These maps are perfect to structure information and generate ideas. They are simple but very useful tools. These are the maps displayed in one of the classrooms, they show our students' concern about the environment.
Do you want to know what the weather is like in different parts of the world?
Then you should come to 1º ESO C/D or 1º ESO B/E (with teacher Nieves) and ask our students. They will be willing to tell you the weather forecasts.
